Safeguarding

Girls' safety comes first

Girlsport Games is designed for girls, and their safety and wellbeing guide every decision we make. Our approach is simple: girls lead, and responsible adults support.

Girls lead, adults support

At Girlsport Games, girls take the lead in competing, coaching, officiating, reporting and creating. Every one of those roles is backed by responsible, screened adults whose job is to support — never to take over.

Screened staff and volunteers

Everyone working with girls under 18 holds the checks required in their country:

  • Australia: a current Working with Children Check or Blue Card, as required in the relevant state or territory.
  • USA: a completed background check through the relevant state or national process.

Every event also follows a child safeguarding policy and code of conduct, shared with teams, families and volunteers before the Games.

Safeguarding officers at every Games

Every Girlsport Games has designated safeguarding officers on site for the duration of the event. They are the first point of contact for any safety or wellbeing concern, and families, girls and volunteers are told who they are and how to reach them at the start of each Games.

Privacy and media

  • Photography and media follow consent rules agreed with families.
  • Individual results are not displayed publicly — the movement experience is built on exploration, not public comparison.
  • Access to girls' personal information is never a sponsorship benefit. Partners do not receive participant details.

Raising a concern

If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a girl connected with Girlsport Games, email amanda@girlsportcollective.com and we will respond promptly. If a child is in immediate danger, call emergency services (000 in Australia, 911 in the USA) first.
